Blom-Singer Tracheostoma Valve Housing

The Blom-Singer Tracheostoma Housing is a reusable plastic disc that is used to attach a tracheostoma valve or an HME. It has a 22mm connector, and is available in two sizes (standard/large) and two material thicknesses (normal/PVC = stronger). The plastic discs are much stronger than other tracheostoma plasters, but do not have a layer of adhesive. A double-sided adhesive ring is placed on the plastic disc to apply it to the tracheostoma. It is chosen to suit the skin type and desired strength of adhesion. A silicone adhesive may also be applied to the skin. The plastic discs have proven successful in practical use at high blowing pressures and with irregular neck profiles (e.g. with a tracheostoma between the bases of the M. sternocleidomastoideus). Removing the adhesive rings before reusing the plastic disc is tedious. However, this does not have to be done on a daily base.
